| 2000 Volkswagen Passat GLS 1.8L MIL Lamp on VIN: WVWMA23B2Y Thank you for all the help. The source of the problem turned out to be a broken vacuum hose going to the switching valve assembly at the back of the head. After replacing the hose the check engine light remained off.
