Exhaust gas analyzer repair - Clean Air Series 9700
Posted to Tool & Equipment Forum on 2/8/2016

I have a "Clean Air Series 9700" analyzer made by John Bean with Snap On software. It has Windows 95 operating system and I believe a 386 hard drive. I am having trouble with the software getting into the exhaust analysis section. I don't use it for certifying vehicles, nor do I use the ignition or other electrical functions diagnosis. I just want to read the exhaust gas for tuning purposes only. There is not a floppy drive. I went into Setup and directed the computer to boot from the hard drive and it did successfully, but somewhere along the line things got scrambled, After it boots up it looks for a modem, which is not connected, then it looks for updates, which without a modem is a waste of time. I can' t get much farther than that. There is a USB port with a flash drive plugged into it and I wonder if that is where it is booting from and if it needs to be reset to a certain protocol. Does anyone have experience with this machine? If I could find someone with the same machine, I would like a copy of the flash drive to see if that is the problem.
