Group,
When I opened this place in 1992, I had access to a
perfectly good Sun AVR, also known as the VAT 40. That is
the machine I grew up using. It's owner wanted it back in
about 1995, so I bought a Snap On digital equivalent for a
lot of money. About 10 years ago, it started acting up and
the repair was more than Snap On wanted for its replacement.
I then bought a Ferret digital version of this tool. These
tools are quite simple. They measure voltage, amperage and
have an inductive amperage lead and a carbon pile load
tester.
My Ferret has now died. So I went and read this:

Now after reading this I would more than ever would like to
replace it with a simple analog AVR. My customers trust me,
and I don't need a silly printout of a battery test to
convince them otherwise. I will use modern equipment when
necessary. My Pico Scope has the capability of performing
these tests, but a fundamental analog AVR can accurately do
(so quickly!) in the course of a service what we have always
done.
Does anyone offer a new one for sale?
TIA
Peter from Georgia
