ATG Schedule of Classes for October 2016
Posted to Industry Events Forum on 9/28/2016
Greetings, everyone!
The Automotive Training Group (ATG) has the following
classes available for the month of October 2016. All classes
run from 6:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. each night for both nights,
except where indicated.
CUMMINS COMMON RAIL DIESEL & DURAMAX LML/LGH
DIESEL: Diesel engines are very simple -- just
compress some air and fuel and you get combustion. But with
the advent of common rail fuel pressurization and delivery
symptoms, diagnosis and repair became a complicated and
time-consuming game. Add variable vane turbochargers,
feedback EGR systems, and exhaust aftertreatment systems
like Diesel Particulate Filters, Selective Catalyst
Reduction, and Diesel Exhaust Fluid injection, and it's hard
to know where to start. Other published Cummins and Duramax
repair information is inconsistent, and many of the flow
charts run you in circles performing tests that would take
days. In contrast, our approach looks for high-level
indicators to make a better possible-cause list, and then
offers multiple simple tests to trim that list as fast as
possible without taking too much apart. Cummins and Duramax
are each comprehensively covered in separate sections,
including special tools, workarounds, unused Scan Tool
functions, and other great shortcuts. From a simple
high-level pass to system-specific tips, this seminar covers
the entire diagnostic process. We have included dozens of
real world examples to prove that these strategies will find
the root cause of your code or symptom in the shortest
amount of time.

FORD ENGINE PERFORMANCE: This all-new Ford
Engine Performance training manual and seminar covers the
evolving failures of both new and legacy engine management
systems. We provide in-the-trenches explanations of systems
and failures, including case studies that show the latest
tricks for finding root causes fast. This isn't just a
summary of OEM information and training material, but was
built by analyzing actual diagnostic struggles and
documenting the shortest diagnostic paths.
* November 2nd & 3rd: Whitehall, PA
EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEMS: OEM
flowcharts routinely make EVAP system diagnostics too
complicated. Despite the wide variety of systems out there,
our research has revealed that a layered approach is much
faster than the linear OEM approach, leading to a profitable
diagnosis without the wasted (and unbillable) diagnostic
time or multiple trips for your customer. This is the 2nd
subject in our Import Series, but also comes with a thick
Domestic section. First, we show you universal techniques
applicable to every system. If no leaks are found, the
procedures become more system-specific, but not yet
manufacturer-specific. All systems fall into one of four
categories listed below, and by following our universal
procedures, you can still avoid the technical nonsense that
typically lengthens diagnostic times! Most faults are found
using these first two layers. We have also included
manufacturer and system specific tips and tricks for those
cases where you'll need to go that deep.
* October 3rd & 4th: Hartford, CT
* October 12th & 13th: Manchester, NH
* October 24th & 25th: San Luis Obispo, CA
* October 26th & 27th: Santa Barbara, CA
* October 26th & 27th: Portland, ME
ADVANCED LAB SCOPE & CURRENT TESTING: OEM
flowcharts are linear documents that focus on open circuit
testing. This process takes too long, but it can also be
misleading because faults don't always show up under
flowchart testing conditions. That's what the Lab Scope
offers -- a way to measure actual circuit activity under
actual operating conditions. This seminar and manual are
designed to challenge even the most experienced Lab Scope
users with new techniques and tips to leverage the power of
the tools. However, even new Lab Scope users will get what
they need to take those first steps.
* October 17th & 18th: Plainview, NY
