"The Eleventh Annual TST Tech Training Big Event"
Featuring: 1. Bernie Thompson "Understanding, Diagnosing and
Repairing Fuel Trim Problems" 2. Wayne Colonna "
Driveability and Transability -- Real World Tips for Proper
Diagnosis and Repairs" 3. Scott Brown "Leveraging your PC
for the Automotive Service Professional" 3. Pete Meier
"Motor Age Keynote Speaker" Topic 1: "Understanding,
Diagnosing and Repairing Fuel Trim Problems" covers: This
course will cover an in-depth look at modern fuel injection
systems and the effect of fuel trim. At first, the
complexity of these systems can overwhelm the technician.
With a basic understanding of how these systems operate, the
technician will learn how to properly trouble shoot
difficult drivability problems in just minutes. The key is
using the fuel trim as the technician's window into the fuel
injection systems. This course will teach the technician new
and efficient ways to repair vehicles where it counts; in
your service bays. Bernie Thompson: Bernie is a graduate of
Lincoln Tech and he owns a ten-bay repair facility in
Albuquerque, NM. Thirty plus years of hands on experience
and a burning desire to master the challenging and exciting
field of automotive electronics has pushed Bernie to begin
designing better diagnostic and training equipment. In 2000,
he and Neal Pederson established Automotive Test Solutions,
Inc., a company that designs and manufactures innovative top
of the line training and diagnostic equipment. Together,
Bernie and Neal have released patented and proven
technologies that have been recognized by Motor Magazine's
prestigious Top 20 Awards. Realizing the need for better
education in his field, Bernie developed an advanced
training curriculum for the automotive industry. In addition
to publishing articles in Motor Magazine, Bernie has
presented workshops at automotive conferences including
NACAT, ASA, Vision, TST and CATS, and CARS. He is looking
forward to sharing his dynamic ideas on automotive
electronics. Topic 2: "Misfire Strategies for Today's
Vehicles" covers: Diagnosing a misfiring cylinder(s) can
consume a lot of time. A diagnostic plan that includes
modern equipment helps make the job easier. Step by step
diagnostic process including Relative Compression, Pressure
Transducer and Labscope Testing. We will be using these test
methods to solve Misfire problems. Wayne Colonna: Wayne,
President at Automatic Transmission Service Group, Technical
Supervisor at ATSG, Author, Powertrain Pro Publisher at
Motor Age, Past Technical Editor at Transmission Digest,
transmission specialist. Topic 3: "Leveraging your PC for
the Automotive Service Professional" iATN's President, Scott
Brown will share with you a vast array of tools and
techniques you should be aware of in order to leverage the
power of your PC. Work smarter and not harder, learn how to
properly document and share before and after test results.
With more tools becoming PC based, knowing how to capture
sections of your screen and documenting conditions, can help
you work more efficiently and communicate more effectively.
Additionally, Scott will demonstrate some of the advanced
features on iATN such as Waveform library uploading,
searching, posting and more. He will provide many other tips
and tricks you will be able to take and apply immediately to
help shape and advance your career in our deeply challenging
automotive service industry. Scott Brown: Scott automotive
career began after tech-school in the early 1980's, and
later becoming an independent shop owner by the early
1990's. With a strong focus on engine performance and
electronics, Scott began collaborating with other industry
professionals on-line in the early 90's. In 1992, he helped
organize one of the first on-line automotive waveform
databases on CompuServe. He later began a dial up bulletin
board service for automotive professionals. Since 1995, he
has been an instrumental resource in the development of the
largest on-line community of automotive service
