Vantage Pro turns on but that's it

I have a vantage pro that will not get past the first screen when powered up. Just says ''vantage pro'' across the blue screen. CF 1 card is in CF 1 slot. Can only shut machine off by removing the battery. It hasn't been updated in years but worked ok on older cars. Any ideas?
