I'd start with the Valve adjustment... check the clearance first, if you find a tight valve ( Specially #1 Exh ) You may need cylinder head work... Have seen burnt seats on the 01 CRVs ( 2.0L ?) give a misfire. If I recall correctly , EGR on most Hondas go to the Intake Air Chamber and is not " Piped " to individual cylinders. Thus an EGR leak would show as an overall issue P0300 as opposed to P0301. Pretty sure there is a TSB on this... Josef
