Key Fob stuck, No Crank No Start
This van of ours was towed in, the PRNDL indicates Reverse, while shifter is in park. The rear back up lights are on as well. I disconnected the battery for a good while and removed the fob, to see if it might reset but that had no effect. It seems that the computer sees the vehicle being in reverse, therefore not allowing it to start. I don't have a lot of experience with this van, it being newer than anything else in our taxi fleet for one and the rest of fleet being all Impalas and one older model Caravan (that is much simpler to deal with!) I poured over Mitchell info and diagrams, but really don't understand how the transmission is getting its gear shift signals..I can't see any internal range selector switch like the older models have, so I am assuming that it is all done via computer logic signals to transmit the gear shifter/cable position?? And if so, how does one go about chasing down the cause of this wrong message being fed to the computer? The shift lever and actual shifter on the transmission is in park but the PRNDL indicating Reverse? Any suggestions or direction greatly appreciated fellas.
