Hello all,

I'm slightly confused on when Ford used the external ICMs (ignition control module) on the 2.3L SOHC trucks. According to SI they stopped using the external ICM after 1994. From 95 and up the EDIS module was incorporated into the EEC V ECU. When you go to look for a replacement ICM, such as Rock auto, it states that the external ICMs were used from 89-97 years. Numerous other sites state the same thing. What is the deal with this? I have a friend who is stating they have an external ICM on their 1996 Ford Ranger. Did EEC-V ever support an external EDIS (ICM) module to control the two coil packs??
