Rear main or oil pan?
Posted to Technical Discussion Forum on 6/22/2015 16 Replies

So, I've got this van with an oil leak. It's definitely coming from up in between the engine and transmission. It's definitely engine oil. I can't really get a mirror or anything up in there to see what's going on. Is there a good way to know whether it's a bad oil pan gasket, or a rear main? At this point, I'm thinking I should just do the oil pan and retest.

I have checked the PCV system, just in case. It seems to be acting normally.

Are there any tricks I don't know about?
