It is still quite possible that some or all of the injectors are drawing enough current to heat up the driver circuits in the ECU. The faster the engine is running, the faster those transistors are going to heat up. Once they get hot enough, they should shut down until they cool off.

I'm not talking about a dead short or open. I'm thinking the insulation in the injector windings has broken down to the point that a few windings are touching. This would cause the injectors to draw a little more current than the ECU drivers can handle.

What is the peak current reading for each injector? The resistance specification for those injectors is 14-21.5 ohms (according to AllData). Based on that, I would replace them all if any are drawing 1 amp or more.
