Hi All,
This is my own car. I bought it brand new. It just turned
74,000 miles and it has been taken care of exclusively by
me. The oil has been changed every 90 days since
new--sometimes it had 1500 miles on it and other times 2000
miles, but never more than that between oil changes. My
problem is, it seems like exhaust is getting into the oil. I
changed the oil back in September, and just happened to
check it in the middle of November--there was 1700 miles on
the oil--it was jet black--so black that you couldn't see
through it to read the stampings on the dipstick. I
immediately changed the oil again, and now, with 300 miles
on it, the oil is jet black again, and the dipstick smells
like exhaust. The pcv system is working fine, and there is
no blowby and no moisture in the oil. It runs like a top,
but the oil seems to be getting exhaust in it. How on earth
can exhaust be getting into the oil with no other
symptoms--no miss, no noise, no nothing---I'm stumped !!!
