Recurring p2179
Posted to Technical Discussion Forum on 10/8/2014 10 Replies

Having a problem hunting down the cause of this recurring p2179 bank 2 lean at cruise. It occasionally sets p2099 post cat high limit B2. Dealer had already replaced injectors on that bank and O2 sensors. They told customer codes sets because he had resonators removed and straight pipes installed in their place. That makes no sense to me because it would affect both sides not just bank 2. Found service bulletin for ex system leak causing this code. Pressurized ex syst as per tsb and found small leak at clamps and weld near rear. Both too far back in my opinion. Still set codes after these repaired. Checked for vac leaks around intake with propane, checked pcv hoses and breather hoses, replaced MAF with known good from another car. Scan data looks good. Freeze frame data: RPM 1241,Coolant 201,MAF 24.50,Speed 45,Load 79,MAP 75.3,Baro 29.5,ST FT B1 -4,St FT B2 -5,LT FT B1 3,LT FT B2 22. Whats with the MAP reading 75? Bank 2 is lean, or at least the PCM thinks its lean. I tried searching fix database but found nothing helpful. Code usually takes a couple days to set so I don't have test drive data when code sets. Ideas , Suggestions , Please.
