Loud single 'snap' on moderately hard turn
Posted to Technical Discussion Forum on 8/18/2013 15 Replies

This vehicle came in with a drivers side CV shaft that had come apart and protruding through the boot. I checked front end to see if there may have been another component that failed causing this, all were tight. I replaced the shaft and backed it out of the garage, on first turn I heard a loud "snap - bang" and then it was like this was a four wheel drive van it "lugged" and was almost as if the CV shafts locked up. I had to straighten up the wheels to get it to move again. It did this multiple times. I brought it back into the garage and checked the front end again, control arms, ball joints, tie rod ends, struts, rack, and all appeared good. I took shaft out again and checked it was new and didn't seem "loose" but I got another one and installed it. Too k it out of garage and exact same thing happened. Before I go chasing my tail on this one, anyone experience this behavior before on one of these Caravans, and if so what fixed it? Thank you for your time.
