Toyota 4.0 l 1GRFE Engine failure due to Napa #1348 filter
Posted to Technical Discussion Forum on 4/26/2013 47 Replies

Hello,

I have had 2 confirmed cases of a WIX/NAPA oil filter #1348 causing restriction in oil pressure on Toyota 4.0 Engines.

I have documented 1 of them on video complete with pressure readings.

These trucks come in with check engine light, ticking engine, and VVT codes.

Oil pressure is between 4-10 psi and drops at 2500.

I need to know if anyone else has seen this issue? We are fixing a customer truck due to his cylinder walls are severely scored due to the pressure loss. These engines have piston cooler/lube injection tubes with spring loaded pressure valves. Similar to Diesel engines.

Please see below for videos.
