Using/Losing Coolant
Posted to HD/Fleet Forum on 12/18/2013 6 Replies

160000 miles on this glass truck and it makes about a 500 mile daily trip on its rounds. Recently the "Low Coolant" light and buzzer come on near the end of the day. The driver has to put about a quart of coolant in the radiator which extinguishes the light and silences the buzzer for another run. Pressure testing shows no sign of external leak. Are these prone to EGR cooler failures or head gasket problems? Any other spot where coolant is possibly "burned" thru the engine? The vehicle is actually a "1400" but it does have the 4.7L 4 cylinder Nissan diesel.
