Isuzu 4LE2 2.2L diesel engine
Posted to HD/Fleet Forum on 8/6/2013 2 Replies

I just picked up this engine off of Craigslist with intent to build something useful out of it. Trouble is I cannot find a GOOD service manual anywhere. I am specifically looking for the wiring schematic. It is mechanical, so there is not much wiring, but there are a few sensors, and there is an electric shutoff solenoid to close the rack. It has four wires coming out of it, white, red, yellow, and black. The black wire is not used, and the other three run into a harness that came from whatever vehicle this was in. I was told they think it came from a street sweeper.

Does anyone know what the function of the wires are? I really don't want to just apply voltage as something may get damaged that way. Someone I talked to today said one may be ground, one for pull in voltage and one for hold in voltage. Someone else said one should be for cold start timing advance. Any thoughts? Anyone work on these industrial engines? We have never seen an engine like this and really don't know where to get good information on a budget.
