How I deal with angry right wing customers who failed smog
Posted to Emissions Forum on 1/7/2014 49 Replies

How often, as smog techs in California, do we hear from customers, "this is all just a liberal ahenda to suck money out of us"? Well, to the conservative and right wing, here is an answer ive developed that everytime creates a 180 and gets them excited for smog repairs. What I say is, "smog gases started happening a little after FDRs New Deal had a boom in factories and vehicles. It was Ronald Reagan who signed the Mulford-Carroll act that created CARB and our emissions program. Our state fights tooth and nail every year to keep a decentralized program and out of the hands of the feds." Then throw a comment about setting the standards in emissions for the world.

Everytime Ive done this, the customer usually says, "Reagan was a genius", then leave having a new love for CARB, Smog, and their now repaired and clean car.
