Yes he was , Carl , and he raised all of us the same way , he taught all of us about discipline , hard work , saving your money , and he had also signed up , joined the Army ,when he was young , and took an oath to defend this country , with his life , if necessary . He was wounded , in Europe , took several machine gun bullets to his leg , and one side ,they sent him to England , he recovered ,partially , they were going to send him back to Canada , he refused that , and requested to be sent back , to rejoin his outfit in France , and finished up the war there . And he never felt sorry for himself , he was grateful that he survived the war , and went on to become a father , and a damned good one , if I may be allowed to say that . I just hope , that , before I get my ticket punched , Carl , that I get to be at least half the man my Dad was .
