Re: Welding surge protectors
Posted to Technical Theory Forum on 5/25/2014

We had a Chevy 2500 4x4 that the boss kept around for odd jobs , driver brought it to the shop with trailer attached . Trailer had a loose fender , he was in a hurry , hooked up the welder , spot tacked the fender . Put everything away , jumped in the truck , started it up [ Drive by wire , 6.5 diesel] the engine went almost to the rev limit before it settled down. Scared the s*** out of him. We had to repair the fuel injection pump module , found out the trailer plug was wired incorrectly , crossed wire , when he tapped the trailer with the welder it put a live shot back thru the truck , put it out of commission for about a day . Boss was not a happy camper .
