I am aware of the Sprinter stripped vehicles aka Chicken Tax you reference. These are Asian built cars. That are in large lots that have been rail off loaded. The report was clear that they would be up fitted in the US to avoid the taxes if they were brought over loaded.

They were specific that these vehicles were good for US people that would be up fitting the Cars. Just curious if any one knew if these were up fitted at the Tax Free area or if they went to an authorized OEM facility not necessarily a dealer

Thinking back I have seen some large warehouses that had large lots of new cars that appeared to move cars in and out of the warehouse possibly where the up fitting was done.

Just curious because the report said that hundreds of these free zones are scattered around the country not just for auto's.

I actually thought that the days of say stripped cars went away because much of the electronics are controlled by computers unless they are reflashing with the add-ons.

Seems to me that this could be a good job for a tech if the pay was good with AC and working on new cars.

These lots have hundreds if not thousands of cars in these lots. With the iATN resources thought someone would have information to add.
