That '10 3.6 F-car has a GDI fuel system. There's a
module-driven, PWM-actuated in-tank pump for the low
pressure side, and a high-pressure engine-driven mechanical
pump. There are three-wire, 5V fuel pressure sensors for
both sides, which means a scan tool will read both high- and
low-side pressures.
I have not known that particular application to be "horrible
about fuel pumps" at all. I think that, being PWM-driven
rather than running full-tilt all the time, the electric
in-tank fuel pump will probably last longer than expected.
Do you have particular examples of this engine or platform
that would support your opinion?
