September 6, 2017 iATN has created a new Disaster Recovery Forum to assist members in need.
Hello everyone, Like most of the world, the iATN staff has been watching the terrible aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, and our hearts go out to all those affected. I'm sure most of us here in the US know someone affected by the disaster, either personally or through contact on iATN over the years. We estimate that over 500 members are directly impacted, and that number is sure to grow in the coming weeks. Now as we write this, Hurricane Irma is making windfall in the Caribbean, and may be headed for landfall soon in the southern US...

August 29, 2017 Techs working in I/M states might be interested in this recent challenge with monitors on a 2005 Mustang. Check out the entire discussion including related data and the final conclusion in the iATN Emissions Forum.

Ford Readiness Issue
Hi all, I'm having trouble getting CAT, O2 and O2 Heater monitors to run on this 4.0 V-6 Mustang. It is completely stock, not so much as an aftermarket air filter. 2 years ago it passed IEPA emissions testing with all monitors ready. Now it is a chronic reject...

August 18, 2017 A regular contributor, James from Florida shares his highly analytical skill-set used to identify an intermittent complaint on a late model GM vehicle. Auto techs engaged performing diagnostics would want to check out his methodologies and see what can be learned. James shares a lot with the iATN community, which they deeply appreciate!

An Easy Repair With A little Thought
A few days ago, an Express cargo van was towed in. It was a 2016 with about 500 miles on it. The complaint was "vehicle stalls on road, will restart." It seems strange to tow in for a stall only. It was almost closing time but I thought I'd drive the vehicle inside for the night. I went out to start it and when I turned the key, nothing happened. No click, nothing. The IPC illuminated and the headlights were bright. The Service Writer said there was no complaint of a no crank. Of course, with a commercial vehicle, you're not talking to the actual driver...

Don't Let The Click fool You
Today, a 2017 Malibu was towed in with a no crank failure. The customer told us that his mechanic said that the starter had failed as a click can be heard from the starter when the start button is pressed but the starter does not activate. It was towed to the dealer as it is still under warranty...

Stretch Belt Installation Tip
This may have been mentioned before, But is worth sharing. I had to replace belts on a Ford Edge today and none of my stretch belt install tools would work, Or fit in the confined area. I grabbed a heavy wire tie wrap and secured the belt to the pulley...
