iATN FOUNDER RECEIVES INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP AWARD

Brea, CA — Brent Black, founder and president of the International Automotive Technicians' Network (iATN), received the 2001 Motor Age Industry Leadership Award. Bill Cannon, editor-in-chief of Motor Age, presented the award to Black during the 2001 iATN Convention, Oct. 5-7, in Dearborn, Mich.

The annual award recognizes a person who has contributed to the automotive service industry as a whole by creating something new or taking a unique approach to a problem. "It's one thing to have an idea or to be inspired by an idea. It is quite another to give that idea wings. That is what Brent Black has accomplished," said Cannon. While he recognized everyone attending the convention for their contributions and accomplishments as part of the incredible growth of iATN, Cannon spoke about Black's leadership qualities; his persistence and ability to overcome doubt, his team-building skills, and above all, his follow-through.

Black started iATN in 1995 with 50 members. Today, iATN (www.iatn.net) has more than 37,000 active members from 120 countries and membership grows daily. These automotive service professionals use the many features of iATN for technical information and education, as well as networking. Many of the online discussions are so valuable that manufacturer engineers, government officials, environmental policymakers and other industry professionals will routinely use iATN to gather feedback.

"It is truly an honor to receive the Motor Age award and to work with such a dedicated group of industry professionals who, through iATN, have a huge impact on directly and positively shaping the future of the automotive service industry," said Black.
