4.6 gets better gas mileage? Not hardly. It has less torque and hp than Chevy's 5.3 and gets the same gas mpg.

2001 Ford F150 4wd 4.6:

231 HP 293ft lbs torque

15/18 mpg.

2001 Chevy 1/2ton 4WD 5.3: 285 HP 325ft lbs torque. 15/18 mpg
