iATN® SURVEY SHOWS 68 PERCENT OF TECHNICIANS IN
REPAIR FACILITY ARE ASE-CERTIFIED

Brea, CA — Members of the International Automotive Technicians Network (iATN) report that the repair facility they work for employs an average of 5.10 technicians. In a subsequent iATN online study, members report an average of 3.47, or 68 percent, of the technicians in the repair facility they work for are ASE-certified.

"iATN member-technicians are employed by repair facilities that clearly embrace and support ASE certification. This commitment to high standards of competence and professionalism among the technicians and businesses that belong to iATN helps elevate the industry and improve consumers' perception of automotive service," said Brent Black, iATN founder and president.

"The high number of ASE-certified professionals participating in iATN is a testimony to the value such membership provides to technicians and the industry at large. ASE has been a sponsoring member of iATN since the early days of the network and we are pleased to support this important information resource helping technicians diagnose and repair the high-tech vehicles of today and tomorrow," said Ronald H. Weiner, ASE president.

The data is the result of two online polls conducted by iATN in 2002 and 2003. The first study to determine how many technicians the average repair facility employs (including owner/technicians) was conducted in mid-2002 when iATN had approximately 38,000 members. Of those members, 2,293 responded to the survey. A subsequent online survey to determine the average number of ASE-certified technicians per repair facility (including owner/technicians) was completed in March 2003 when iATN had approximately 44,000 members. Of those members, 3,219 participated in the poll.
