What we have done here when our service truck has had issues similar to this , water in fuel , after cleaning out the fuel delivery system , 6.6 Duramax diesel , is to drain out the engine oil , let it settle , in drain bucket , then tip the drain bucket carefully , to one side , and check for any water , or metal pieces in oil - we caught it in time once like this , in the past , the boss had extended warranty on the truck . It was sent back in to the GM dealer where it came from , they installed a replacement engine under warranty - Had we let it go beyond the warranty time , it would have been one expensive event which would have been a real kick in the wallet .
