The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is proud to be a sponsor of the International Automotive Technicians' Network (iATN). ASE was founded in 1972 as an independent, non-profit organization with a single mission: To improve the quality of automotive service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of automotive professionals.
The ASE program has grown from a series of four automobile tests to a comprehensive offering of more than forty exams in diverse specialty areas: Automobile/Light Truck, Alternate Fuels, Specialty Series, Medium/Heavy Truck, Truck Equipment, School Bus, Transit Bus, Collision Repair, Engine Machinist, and Parts Specialist (Auto & Truck).
The test questions focus on real-world diagnostic and repair problems, not theory. Upon passing at least one exam and accruing at least two years of relevant work experience, you earn ASE certification. Certification, however, is not for life. To remain certified, you must retest every five years.
The ASE paper/pencil exams are given twice a year, each May and November, at more than 750 locations across the country. In addition, ASE offers Computer-Based Testing (CBT) sessions at select test centers during the summer and winter.
The next session of ASE paper/pencil exams takes place on May 8, 13 and 15, 2008. Online registration for the Spring 2008 paper/pencil exams is now open and runs through March 31st, 2008. For registration details, go to www.ase.com.
The Summer 2008 CBT session starts on July 17th and runs through August 22nd. Registration opens July 10th and runs through August 15th. Call 1-800-525-6929 to register, from 8 am to 5 pm (Central Time) M - F, or 8 am to 4 pm Saturday. For more information on CBT sessions, go to www.ase.com/cbt.
