The National Institute for
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is proud to be a sponsor of the
International Automotive Technicians' Network (iATN). ASE was founded
in 1972 as an independent, non-profit organization with a single mission:
To improve the quality of automotive service and repair through the
voluntary testing and certification of automotive professionals.
The ASE program grew from a series of four automobile tests to a comprehensive offering of forty-eight exams across thirteen specialty areas such as: Automobile/Light Truck, Collision Repair, Medium/Heavy Truck, Truck Equipment, School & Transit Bus, and Auto and Truck Parts.
Test questions focus on real-world diagnostic and repair problems, not theory. Upon passing at least one exam and accruing a minimum of two years’ relevant work experience, you earn ASE certification. Certification, however, is not for life. To remain certified, you must successfully retest every five years.
ASE now offers its certification exams exclusively on computer. Computer Based Testing (CBT) means immediate test results, testing availability eight months out of the year, and a choice of testing dates and times, including weekends. CBT sessions take place in January/February, April/May, July/August, and October/November.
Online and telephone registration for the Winter CBT session runs through February 21st. Testing for the winter session takes place through February 28th. To register, go to www.ASE.com or call
1-877-346-9327.
ASE also features the online EPA Section 609 Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling program. To learn more, go
